It all began with a cat; but not your average cat.  When Elisabeth Norman Gardner rescued Frankie the 30lb. Cat,  he weighed in at a whopping 35 pounds.  It wasn’t until he lost down to 30 pounds did Elisabeth create his Facebook Page. Frankie’s rescue story began in Mobile, Alabama where he was surrendered, at 11 years old and morbidly obese, so his family could travel in their RV.  Elisabeth, through Have a Heart Rescue in Birmingham, Alabama, drove over three hours to Mobile, Alabama to rescue Frankie.

Under the care of local veterinarian, Dr. Ashley Norman, along with a strict diet, we are happy to report that Frankie is now a happy and healthy 20.4 pounds and holding, and has now become the star of a series of anti bullying children’s books authored by Elisabeth.  Frankie’s fur siblings, Pearl, Joe, and Gabby are also featured in the first book.

Frankie is the star of Elisabeth’s newly released anti-bullying children’s book “We Are All Different and We Are All Right“.  In the book, beautifully illustrated, by Rachel R. Lindsey, Frankie is mocked for his weight, Pearl; for her freckles, Joe because he had rather play with girls than boys and Gabby because of her tiny body and big ears  The book combines, Elisabeth’s love of children and pets into a real-life look at bullying.  The overall message that is conveyed is that everyone is different, everyone is beautiful and everyone is worthy of being loved.

With the help of Rachel’s whimsical illustrations and Elisabeth’s sweet anti-bullying words,  the book is a great tool for parents to teach their small children that bullying is not okay.
