It’s National Dog Day- August 26!

It’s here, it’s here!  Yes, it’s National Dog Day.  If you’re wondering about its origin, well, it has been around since 2004.  National Dog Day was created by animal advocate Colleen Paige and has been designated to bring attention to all dogs whether in need or not. Their motto is “Saving 10,000 Dogs – One Day at a Time”. President George W. Bush, a dog owner himself, sent a letter to the foundation in support of National Dog Day.

Paige wanted to give dogs a day to “show deep appreciation for our long connection to each other – for their endearing patience, unquestioning loyalty, for their work, their capacity for love and their ability to impact our lives everyday in the most miraculous ways. National Dog Day wishes to encourage dog ownership of all breeds, mixed and pure – and embraces the opportunity for all dogs to live a happy, safe and ”abuse-free life”.

Celebrate by spending time with your special buddy!
