Kurgo Harness Giveaway

#kurgofun

Welcome to another great group Kurgo giveaway—with a fun photo twist! We’re joining some super blogs to help prepare one lucky dog for holiday travel with a giveaway of a Kurgo dog harness.

Since Baylie’s knee surgery three weeks ago, we have been commuting to the vet two to three times a week for hydrotherapy.  A good harness is essential not only to keep her safe while riding in the SUV,  but also to keep a tight rein on her around other dogs at the clinic.

Win a Kurgo Surf ‘N Turf Dog Life Jacket!

kurgo-jacket-collage Welcome to the #SurfNTurf giveaway that we’re co-hosting with DogTipper! Along with some other great blogs, we’re giving away a Kurgo Surf ‘N Turf Dog Life Jacket to keep your dog safe on summer outings (and dry this fall and winter!)  Not all dogs are good swimmers; dogs with large heads or heavy coats often have swimming challenges and our Baylie fits into both of those categories.  Even the best swimmer can tire in the water — or needs help staying afloat if injured.

Happy Fourth of July!

Happy Fourth of July

Happy Fourth of July!  Remember to keep your pets safe during firecracker “season”.  More pets  are lost during this time of year than any other.  If possible, bring your pups and kitties indoors.  It’s common for dogs to escape from backyards due to fear of fireworks, so if bringing your pets indoors is not an option, please make sure they are microchipped and wearing their pet ID tags.

Welcome to the #CleanDogCar #giveaway that we’re co-hosting with DogTipper!  Along with some other great blogs, we’re giving away a Kurgo car seat cover of the winner’s choice.

We all know that summer means outdoor fun with our dogs — but that fun comes at the price of muddy paw prints. Whether you’re enjoying the beach or lake with your dog this summer, your car seats and cargo area can soon be covered with muddy paw prints and shed fur as your wet dog returns to the car.

Baylie Giving the Green Light to be Petted

It’s typical behavior for dog-lovers to walk up to a dog we have never met to give him a pat on the head. However, this type behavior can invoke fear and provoke the flight or fight mechanism in a dog.   It’s also typical behavior for children to be drawn to an unfamiliar dog. They want to pet every pup they see as if it were a fluffy teddy bear.

Even thought Baylie has never shown any signs of aggression towards children or adults,  I keep a watchful eye,  nonetheless.  She’s a large-breed dog and even playfully jumping on someone can cause injury.  With so many dog bites in the news of late, we all have to be on our guard.    Even if you have the friendliest dog on the planet, a dangerous situation can develop in mere seconds. Although they mean no harm, children can do a number of things to trigger aggression in dogs.

Why Pet Gates Make Sense In A #Bipetual Home

Smoki & Baylie at an Impasse

Two items I vowed never to have in our bipetual home; 1) doggie potty pads,  and 2) a pet gate.   Potty pads were never necessary since Baylie was so easy to potty train, but   I succumbed to the use of a pet gate.  Why now,  you ask, even though Baylie is past her rambunctious puppy stage? The foremost reason we decided to consider using a pet gate was not so much to corral Baylie,  but rather to provide Smoki some degree of privacy without shutting her off from the other rooms of the house.
