We hear the words “green” “organic” and “natural” a lot these days but what does it all really mean? Do we need to be a chemist when it comes to making an informed decision for choosing pesticide-free products for our pets and home? It can be a bit overwhelming at times.
We recently stumbled upon, Wondercide™, a company that produces a line of products dedicated to formulating safe alternatives. They offer a full line of products for Natural Flea & Tick Control (dogs, cats and home), Natural Home & Lawn Pest Control and Natural Pet Care. All products are Made in the USA.
It’s no secret that we are big fans of all Zuke’s products. Zuke’s treats are healthy, natural, nutritious and made with wholesome, whole-food ingredients, and Baylie loves them! From the moment Zuke’s created the first ever “energy bar” for dogs in 1995, they have devoted their time, energy and love into learning what pets need and want. For Zuke’s, sustainability and reducing their carbon footprint, while promoting a healthy diet and lifestyle for your pet, are second nature.
Generally, we hoomans get a little lethargic when cold weather sets in and assume it rings true with our dogs, as well. While cabin fever and the Winter blues may be experienced by some small-breed dogs, it can be just the opposite for many long-haired, large-breed dogs that get an adrenaline rush from cooler temps. Baylie welcomes the onset of cool weather with open arms.
As a former IT Functional Systems Analyst, I’m a self-proclaimed techie. One product I’ve been wanting to purchase is a pet monitor. There are so many monitors on the market, but I have not had the time to do my due diligence as far as which monitor will suit my needs as well as the price points. Thankfully, I was saved the arduous task of comparing specs by our friends at PetsWeekly. I’m certain a squeal could be heard when told I was the lucky winner of their Motorola Scout 66 Wi-Fi Pet Monitor giveaway.
If you are not familiar with PetsWeekly, it’s a fantastic resource for pet parents. You’ll learn all about pets and pet health, read fun pet stories and pet quotes, stay abreast of the newest pet products, and save money with free contests & coupons.
Living in a bipetual home, one of my worst fears is that weird things happen when Smoki and Baylie are home alone. On occasion when I arrive home, Baylie greets me anxious and panting. With a pet monitor, I will be able see and hear, in real-time, if she exhibits any signs of separation anxiety. Foremost, I want to make certain Smoki and Baylie are respectful of each other when I’m away.
“I would rather be poor in a cottage full of books than a king without the desire to read.” – Thomas Babington Macaulay
According to the literacy fast facts from the National Assessment of Adult Literacy (NAAL), literacy is defined as “using printed and written information to function in society, to achieve one’s goals, and to develop one’s knowledge and potential.” Estimates indicate that nearly a billion people will enter the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names and two-thirds of them are women.” One child in four grows up not knowing how to read.
Sharing your bed with your pet can be interesting to say the least. There are all kinds of studies that give you a gazillion reasons why you shouldn’t. I’m sure you have read them all. In spite of all of the hoopla, most pet parents at some point and time give in to letting their cat or dog sleep in their bed even if they aren’t the best of bedfellows.

It’s packed with a boatload of premium protein with zip, zilch, zero grain and potato fillers. The ultra low glycemic natural formula is made from responsibly-raised ingredients with the #1 ingredient being protein.
It’s no secret that we may be a bit compulsive when it comes to keeping a neat and clean house. After Baylie came into our home over two years ago, we had to redefine our perception of clean and neat. One thing we said we would never do as doggie parents is place ghastly throws on the sofa, but we succumbed. We are okay with Baylie taking ownership of the sofa, but we needed to find a solution to prevent wear-and-tear and simplify cleaning.
A local dog became ill after eating the infamous jerky treats we have all read about. We are so happy Buddy is on the road to recovery. Tests revealed that the treats Buddy ingested included the chemical Deet (active ingredient in many insect repellents) and Amantadine (used as an antiviral drug used to treat Avian Influenza).
