A HOLISTIC LINE OF ultra low glycemic, grain & potato free FOOD FOR DOGS
When it comes to nutrition, it makes no difference if you have two legs or four. In order to live life to the fullest, a body needs good, healthy fuel; not junk.
We are a household of health-conscious eaters and that transcends to our pets, as well. So, we were thrilled when the folks at Dogswell® offered us the opportunity to sample their LiveFree® ultra low glycemic dog food. What sets Dogswell LiveFree® Dog Food apart from others? It’s packed with a boatload of premium protein with zip, zilch, zero grain and potato fillers. The ultra low glycemic natural formula is made from responsibly-raised ingredients with the #1 ingredient being protein.
Shedding of your cat’s Winter undercoat, along with excessive grooming, can only result in one thing, HAIRBALLS! Cats can spend up to 10 percent of their waking hours grooming themselves by licking their fur. They have an amazing built-in barbed, self-grooming tool -their tongue- which can result in a whole ‘lotta’ hairballs. Continue reading →
It’s no secret that we may be a bit compulsive when it comes to keeping a neat and clean house. After Baylie came into our home over two years ago, we had to redefine our perception of clean and neat. One thing we said we would never do as doggie parents is place ghastly throws on the sofa, but we succumbed. We are okay with Baylie taking ownership of the sofa, but we needed to find a solution to prevent wear-and-tear and simplify cleaning.
A local dog became ill after eating the infamous jerky treats we have all read about. We are so happy Buddy is on the road to recovery. Tests revealed that the treats Buddy ingested included the chemical Deet (active ingredient in many insect repellents) and Amantadine (used as an antiviral drug used to treat Avian Influenza).
While we are enjoying this long weekend, let us remember the sacrifice given, over many years by many soldiers, so that we can enjoy peace. Please go out of your way to thank a veteran and those currently serving, as well. Memorial Day is not National BBQ Day, it’s a holiday wherein the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces are remembered. We pay tribute to the men and women who have fought and fallen for our country. Thank you for our freedom.
People think we Southerners are accustomed to the scorching Summer heat and humidity. We are not and neither are our pets. We take precautions by limiting our activities and that of our pets during the hottest hours of the day and by staying hydrated. If we are hot, more than likely, our pets are too.
Mother’s Day is a holiday honoring motherhood that is observed in different forms throughout the world. The American incarnation of Mother’s Day was created in 1908 and became an official U.S. holiday in 1914. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in Spring.
Puppy pads are poorly designed but until now were the only solution for allowing dogs the comfort of relieving themselves as needed. Now, there’s a better option from the folks at Piddle Place™. Not meant to replace walking your pet, the Piddle Place™ dog toilet provides a comfortable sanitary environment for your pet to relieve themselves while waiting for your return or when weather permits a trip outdoors. It’s perfect for house breaking, traveling with your pet on boats or RV’s and condo living. Piddle Place™ is also great for the handicapped or elderly who find walking a pet three times a day a challenge. It’s also good for cats!
April is Heartworm Awareness Month. Is your pet heartworm free? Dogs are considered the definitive host for heartworms (Dirofilaria immitis). However, heartworms may infect more than 30 species of animals (e.g., coyotes, foxes, wolves and other wild canids, domestic cats and wild felids, ferrets, sea lions, etc.) Feline heartworms are more deadly and difficult to treat.
